Dear Friends:
For years, many of you have asked me to provide personal consulting or offer advanced classes in marketing. Well, I'm ready to offer something even better.
If you’ve taken my workshops, you’ve heard me teach: 1) producing a book is cheaper and easier than ever before; 2) the internet has made distributing a book cheaper and easier than ever – in fact, it’s practically free; 3) all we have needed is an affordable and effective way of marketing our books. You’ve heard me promise that I would create the marketing platform myself, when I believed the time was right.
Finally ... our time has come.
The global economy is in a rarely seen state of utter crisis, but I have a philosophy about that: The wise and the wealthy remain calm amid crisis.
That’s why I’ve decided that now is the time to introduce a series of intensive conferences and online follow-up courses that will help us reinvent ourselves for the New Economy, which I call Economy 2.0. It’s an economy based on Web 2.0 – the second iteration of the internet.
One of the major topics I’ll cover in the conference series is the vast change we can expect during the Web 2.0 era. There are so many changes and the opportunity is so sweeping that I couldn’t squeeze everything into one workshop. So I’m doing four conferences, and each will have two free online follow-up sessions to make sure that everybody understands exactly what to do and how to do it.
The strategy has four parts: 1) We use corporate sponsorship to finance our books; 2) we use the latest Web 2.0 principles – lessons learned from MySpace, Facebook and YouTube – to market our books; 3) we share a collective marketing platform, so that we aren’t all out there alone trying to get attention for our books; 4) and we create our own version of Amazon.com.
Over the course of one year, I’m going to hold four conferences – one for each component of this strategy. To make sure that everyone understands and APPLIES the principles of each component, after each conference I’ll teach two free online follow-up courses.
Conference #1
How to Finance Your Books With Fortune 500 Corporate Sponsorship
Conference #2
How Web 2.0 Technology Will Change the Entertainment Business Forever – Starting with the Book Business
Conference #3
How Independent Artists Will Take Over the Television Business, Too
Conference #4
The Final Preparations for the Launch of A Social Network (like Facebook) and Online Bookstore for Independent Publishers
Each of these conferences will be accompanied by online follow-up courses to make sure that you grasp and implement the principles in your business – with my direct and personal assistance.
For us to succeed together, YOU MUST do your part:
- Already have an inventory of quality product in your possession or make a written commitment to produce a professional-quality book within one calendar year.
- Invite at least 100 friends with valid email addresses to visit the site.
- Commit to the one-year Charter Member program, which entitles you to the four in-person conferences and a total of eight free follow-up courses: The four conferences will be held in the Los Angeles area; two follow-up courses for each conference will be presented online. If you cannot travel to Los Angeles for the in-person conferences, you can attend them via virtual classroom. In addition to all of the above, you also will be entitled to access to me via email, online chat, and at least two substantial, one-on-one phone consultations over the course of a year. As a Charter Member, you will receive intensive work on your company’s brand; on designing and launching a micro-site for your company and products; on developing your product line; on incorporating Web 2.0 techniques into your business plan; as well as web-hosting services; and e-commerce (web store) services; plus marketing and promotion of the parent site, which benefits all the member sites. Your total cost for EVERYTHING: $100 per month, or a total of $1,200 payable in advance. When I say EVERYTHING, I mean that you get the conferences, online courses, web hosting, web services, and a year’s worth of consulting – all for a hundred bucks a month. You will make at least twenty times that amount if only you successfully implement the business model that I’ll teach you in the first conference.
For us to succeed together, I MUST do my part:
- Create the architecture for the parent website.
- Set up the e-commerce system.
- Invest in SEO (search-engine optimization), which will increase awareness of the site. (Every page on Amazon.com benefits from the general awareness of the parent site. We must match that.)
- Invest in marketing resources that we would share. For example, we all need contact information (names, addresses, etc.) for the correct executives at the Fortune 500 companies in order to secure corporate sponsorship of our books. I would purchase a database that we would share as a group. That’s just one example of the many ways I’ll help you market your products.
- Make myself available for one-on-one brainstorming, problem-solving and general consulting via email, telephone, wiki, text and chat. We can’t do this via lectures alone. This requires hands-on work. It’s imperative that I ensure that everyone – and that includes you – achieves a high level of sophistication and quality in their product and presentation. By the nature of this venture, I have a vested interest in your success. I NEED you to be successful in order to be successful myself. I truly believe: alone, we cannot succeed; together, we cannot fail.
- Invest in you. In certain cases, if you are interested, I will take a deeper interest in your company. I’m even willing to go further: you retain control of your copyrights and company, but I am available to become an active equity participant in a joint-venture that we would establish to develop and market your products. This is the first time I have made myself available to this extent. In exchange for an equity stake, I would invest more of my time and resources in your success. Of course, we would include an exit clause if our collaboration isn’t mutually profitable.
- Promote the site. My main goal is to start a viral campaign – just as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube have done before us – in order to push this Web 2.0 site to the level of public awareness enjoyed by Amazon.com.
